New York World Stamp Show 2016

It is almost time for the 2016 New York World Stamp Show. The show opens its doors tomorrow at 10.30am, and the show ends at 3pm on June 4th. This gives you 8 days to experience everything the show has to offer, and if you have even the slightest interest in philately, you will not be disappointed. The show is expected to attract roughly 250,000 visitors over event.

More than 150 philatelic dealers will be present, and they will be both buying and selling stamps, covers, collections, and almost everything else related to philately. On top of that, more than 50 postal services and postage issuing entities from around the world will be attending. Many of them are issuing special issues specifically for this event, and it will be possible to purchase their latest issues at the show. If you want to know exactly who will be there, you can check out the show directory here.

Some of the finest, rarest, and most expensive stamps, will be on display at the show, courtesy of museums and private collectors from all across the globe. Some of the items on display are valued at several million US dollars, and for many collectors, this is a very rare chance to get so close to these rarities. The list of rarities at display, can be found here.

More than 100 different philatelic organizations will be present throughout the week, where they will be hosting meetings and seminars, as well as having a society table, where they can be contacted. These organizations combined cover almost all corners of philately. They really know what they are talking about, and they are more than happy to share their knowledge with anyone, who shows an interest.

We, at Stampworld, are always interested in getting to know philatelists and collectors even better. That is why we will have representatives present at the event. We are always happy to talk with anyone, and you can catch us at the show, contact us through our Facebook page, or as always at support@stampworld.com.

Current and Upcoming Stamp Issues

Palau: New York City - Iconic Sites:

In celebration of the 2016 New York Stamp Show, a range of different countries have issued stamps related to New York City, or the Stamp Show directly. On the 18th of May, Palau issued a souvenir sheet of New York, where the city is displayed in the background. The four stamps on the sheet are different iconic sites in the city. The Statue of Liberty is the pictured in one of the stamps. This is one of the most iconic sites in New York, and it is also a key figure in the New York Stamp Show logo, which is also included in all four stamps. The last three stamps depict Central Park, Grand Central Station, and the Manhattan Bridge, respectively. You can find the stamps in our catalogue.

Central African Republic: Famous New Yorkers

The Central African Republic also issued celebratory stamps for the NY World Stamp Show. They chose to feature five famous New Yorkers on four stamps, as a salute to the city. The five New Yorkers featured are, in order of appearance; Michael Jordan, Scarlett Johansson, Woody Allen, Stan Lee, and Sylvester Stallone. The stamps all feature the logo of the NY World Stamp Show, and shows the characters in situations they are famous for. The stamps are part of a larger issue, all focusing on Famous New Yorkers. The issues can be found at Stamperija.
