Current and Upcoming Stamp Issues

United States Postal Service: World Stamp Show NY-2016:

On the 28th of May, 2016, the World Stamp Show begins at Javits Center in New York City. As this is an event that is rarely held, interest for it is quite impressive, as more than 250,000 participants are expected during the week of the show. To celebrate the event, the United States Postal Service is issuing two "Forever" stamps, which will be issued on the opening day of the show, May 28th. The stamps are made in single colors, and are patriotic in color - the two stamps are respectively red and blue. The stamps will only be available through the USPS website, and there will be a first-day ceremony on the 28th, taking place at the World Stamp Show.

Canada Post: Star Trek 50th anniversary:

In recognition of the 50th anniversary of the first showing of Star Trek, Canada Post issued a set of 5 different stamps, each honoring one of the main characters of the show. Some of the main characters such as William Shatner, were born in Canada, and Shatner in particular was one of the reasons, that Star Trek had the immense success that it did. Shatner is the only one of the five, who is still alive today. In addition to the five stamps showing the main characters, two coil stamps were issued, which showed two of the main space ships of the show - the U.S.S. Enterprise, and a Klingon battle cruiser. The issue has much more detail to it, and you can read more about it here. You can also find all the stamps in our catalogue.

New York World Stamp Show 2016

As you probably know by now, if you follow any of the major players in the philatelic world, the New York World Stamp Show 2016 will begin on the 28th of this month. This event rarely takes place, and it is only held once every decade in America, which makes this a big deal.

At the show, there will be more than 150 different dealers present, who will both buy and sell stamps, covers, collections, and almost everything else related to philately. Apart from these, more than 50 postal services from around the world will be attending, and it will be possible to purchase all of their latest issues at their stands.

There will be an immense number of rarities on display, including the world's most valuable stamp, a pair of British stamp sheets, which has never before been displayed outside of Great Britain, and much more. You can see a list of rarities on the website of the show.

More than 100 different philatelic organizations will be present throughout the week, where they will be holding meetings and seminars, as well as having a society table, where they can be contacted. All of these organizations cover almost all corners of philately. They really know what they are talking about, and they are more than happy to share their knowledge with anyone, who shows an interest.

As mentioned, the show is a major event, and it is expected that roughly 250,000 people will visit the event during the week. At Stampworld we are always interested in getting to know collectors even better, which is why we will also have a few representatives attending the event. We are always happy to talk with anyone, and you can catch us at the show, or as always at support@stampworld.com, if you prefer that.

What is new at Stampworld?

We are always working to improve at Stampworld, and we are still committed to that. We are working on a whole range of great updates to the site, and one update, which we have just finished today, is a tracker on the Stampworld homepage. We have known for a long time, how much is happening at Stampworld, but we haven't been able to share that with you until now. A new box, called "Stampworld Activity" is now available on the homepage, and here you will see a range of real-time information. You will now be able to see the total number of members on Stampworld, as well as the number of new members, who have joined today. You can also see the number of stamps currently for sale, as well as the number of stamps added for sale during the past day. At last, you will be able to see the 10 latest stamps, which were added for sale, along with picture, price, country and Stampworld number.

Our hope is, that this will give an indication of just how much is actually going on behind the scenes at Stampworld, and we encourage you to check it out.

We are also looking to add more interesting content to Stampworld, in the form of articles and blog posts, among other things. If you would like to help us with that, either by contributing articles or blog posts, helping moderate the forum, or anything else, we would love to hear from you, and you can contact us at support@stampworld.com.

We will also be making upgrades to the "Buy Stamps" section of Stampworld, in order to improve the experience for the buyers and making the purchase process much smoother. If you would like to sell your own stamps at Stampworld, you can easily do so. All you have to do is upgrade your account to a sellers account, and you are good to go! Sellers subscriptions start at $39,95.

If you are not sure whether selling on Stampworld is for you, you can try it out at a small scale. You can do this by upgrading to a VIP subscription. The VIP account allows you to put a limited number of stamps for sale, but that is not the only benefit. The VIP account also allows you to use Stampworld without having to see advertisements, along with a range of other benefits.

By upgrading your account, you are also supporting the future development of Stampworld. You can see more about upgrading your account here.
